Haslemere punches well about its retail weight

Clive Rollinson & Danny Pike from BBC Radio Surrey

BBC Radio Surrey came to Haslemere this week and did a splendid job of highlighting the amazing range of independent businesses in the town.  Haslemere punches well above its retail weight in terms of its independent offering and has a thriving High Street offering an eclectic mix of retailers. Here’s Danny Pike from the breakfast show chatting to Clive about the thriving retail scene.  ps: these two could benefit from our Glitter Beard kits which are coming in for Christmas :-)

We are forever being told by customers that they’re just come back from trawling Guildford, for example, looking for something specific only to find it here in Haslemere.  We are lucky to have a wonderful independent bookshop (how many towns still have one of these?) which is under new management, an independent lingerie shop, an award winning small museum, a cookshop, an ironmongers, two pet shops, a delicatessen, a butchers shop and bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants to name but a few.  To top it all off we have at least 12 fashion & footwear retailers (nearly all independent) offering an eclectic mix of product you won’t find on your average high street.  HURRAH!!!!

We’re sorry to see India Jane close its doors but we’re hearing that something very exciting may be arriving in its place, fingers crossed.
