Party Ready

talking tables

The joy of finding a new brand which ticks all our buying boxes.  Novel decorations to include pineapple bunting, glitter bunting, decorative lights, light up boxes, the list is endless.  Great prices too from £3.95 up to £32.95 for some of the bigger lights.

If you’re coming to our 8th birthday bash tomorrow you’ll be able to see a lot of these decorations in action as we’ll be festooning the shop with it.  My favourite?  Those flamingo sunglasses, £4.99.  Might get a few strange looks when I go out but I can cope with that.

Back in stock

sequin t-shirts

Sequin covered t-shirts are back in stock in a choice of white, pale pink and coral (sorry, denim blue now sold).  A flattering scoop neck and a-line shape make these a winner for most sizes.  Just one size to fit an 8-12 approximately.  Jersey back.  £29.95

A hint of pink

sitting pretty in the window

This week’s window – until we change it tomorrow morning that is.  Just 3 of these crumple free maxi dresses left (another great shape) in various colours and prints.  Throw this into a suitcase and it will emerge without creasing the other end. £65.00

How nice are these necklaces with this sherbet pink top from Saint Tropez, £39.95. Necklaces £15.00

We predict a riot….

silk harem pants £35.00

Well, safe to say you’re all loving these new trews!  Not surprising really – a great shape combined with a great fabric at a great price, £35.00.

Annabel is wearing the silver grey colour but this style is also in stock in White, Navy, Black, Olive Green, Pale Pink and Denim Blue.

Might just be THE item to wear this summer in balmy weather.  Another really handy piece to dress up or down (really should find another phrase…) as required.  One size to fit most (Annabel is a size 10 and the first pair we sold in the shop was to a size 14) thanks to a stretchy waistband.  They look good on all heights too.  Just add shoes and top and off you trot.

There’s nothing little and often about this item

041

Our firm rule about “little and often” has gone out of the window this season.  Well, it has in relation to this particular product.  We simply cannot keep them in stock quick enough.

I think we may have to knock it on the head after this latest delivery – see above. £10.00

T-shirt weather as well

linen t-shrits with silver stars

Nice to find something different on the linen t-shirt front.  These caught our eye on a recent buying trip.  Lovely colours (coral, olive green, silver grey, mint, pale pink and white) with tiny silver metallic stars.  £29.95

Sleeveless tops

033

Some women like tops with sleeves and some women prefer them without.  Here’s one for the latter group.  Another one-size piece which is probably better suited to the smaller sizes.  Pretty tie detail on the shoulder.  £29.95.

Lots of great colours including royal blue, lime green, navy, black etc.  Just pop in or give us a call for more information if needed.064

More Silk

print silk bardot top with sleeves £45

An expensive looking top in a beautiful print and choice of colours.  This is the Lavender version but it’s also in stock in Black, Navy Blue and White.  Stunning.  Just add jeans or white linen.  Annabel is wearing it here off the shoulder but it looks just as good on the shoulder.  Just one size (handy)

£45.00 with a jersey lining to ensure it’s not see through.

Floaty silk maxi dresses (cracking headline eh?)

023

Lots of you asking for more of these one-size elasticated silk maxi dresses, voila!  Here is the black version but it’s also in stock in Navy, Lime Green, Mink, Steel Gray, Pale Blue, Royal Blue and Pale Blue.  A very nice dress at a nice price, £40.00

The great thing about this style is that is a very easy one to dress up for a smarter occasion with jewellery, glittery flats or heels.  Or, wear with a cropped denim jacket and sandals.

A day off to have a treat

ellypear lets eat

I usually work 6 days a week (I know, I’m mad aren’t I?) so it was a real treat to have a day off during the week, yesterday..  I took my sister Amanda (it was her birthday last week) to Brighton for a meal at Silo Restaurant.  One of my favourite Instagram accounts is by Elly Pear who has just published her second cookery book and she “popped up” and cooked a six course meal at Silo. All food served were recipes from her latest book, Let’s Eat.  Delicous!  You won’t find any meat in any of her books but you will find plenty of lovely, easy to prepare recipes for fish, vegetables, pulses, bread etc.  All the sort of stuff we enjoy eating as a family.  The photograph above shows our dessert, rhubarb upside down cake.

elly pear Let's Eat

Elly has become famous for her frittata which she serves at her cafe in Bristol.  We had a silo version (right hand plate) along with roasted tomatoes, green harrisa paste and a celeriac remoulade with walnuts.  totally delicious and very easy to prepare.  6 courses for £28.00 which was extremely good value.

We had a delicious day and I am making a resolution to take more time off next week. And if you enjoy food or cooking or simply finding someone interesting with a sense of humour to follow on Instagram go and find @Ellypear (and no, I am not her agent).
